The Sinful Desires of the Heart
Psalm 9:1810 My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them. 15 My son, do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths; 32 For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them;
~~~
Entice: To attract by arousing hope or desire; lure Waywardness: Mischief; Given to or marked by willful, often perverse deviation from what is desired, expected, or required in order to gratify one's own impulses or inclinations; unmanageable; unpredictable Complacency: A feeling of contentment or self-satisfaction, especially when coupled with an unawareness of danger, trouble, or controversy
Many a times we do the wrong things... why??? Usually if you noticed, it is caused by the influence around you. That somebody probably saw someone else doing such sin and are too let into sin. Like what the adults are always hammering on, peer pressure... It is true that nowadays people, especially teenagers, are so easily led by others. As one is led by another and so on, a trend can be seen. New trends usually start with 1 person doing it, followed by his/her friend, followed by the whole group, then others who see them, and the line goes on... ...
As we live in this world of sin, we must beware. There are 'wolves' out there, trying to lure us into sin... they will encourage us by asking us to "try only, dont need to always do it, just this once, dont be a chicken"... Well, when someone calls you a chicken, you are very very tempted to prove them wrong... and you'll probably say "why not, it is just one try only. Also wont die. I am certain i am strong enough to stop any addiction..."
Well, as you give in to temptation, you actually let your spirit weaken, and you realise you cannot resist repeated sinning. That is why it is said in the book of proverbs, the book full of wise sayings: "if sinners entice you, do not give in to them; do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths."
For it is true that once you give in to temptation, you will continue to sin and you will keep digging the pit you are in, deeper and deeper. So why give in to temptation? To avoid being called a "chicken"??? well... it takes more courage to turn down a temptation and be mocked by everyone (well, Christ did just that!), than to say yes and dig a deep pit for yourself.
So what kind of "chicken" are we??? Do you have more courage than what it seems...? A courageous person is able to stand up for what is right (not what you define as right, but what is right in the eyes of God), and not sway under any circumstances. If you are not, then pray that the Lord our Provider will grant you that strength to stand firm on your standing. I too am praying... ...
Am I considered a fool??? It is said that "the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them"... So, if you are wayward (definition above), you are classified under "simple". Beware then, for your actions may cause your doom. If you have complacency (refer above for definition), you are classified as a "fool" Take care, for you will be destroyed under your own hands, directly or indirectly.
Dont you agree... by committing crimes, and indulging in what is wrong, only brings much heavy consequences. You may escape once, twice, thrice, or ten times... but sooner or later, your deeds will catch up with you, justice will be above your heads.
Thus, we should make our stand firm from the start, not giving in to enticers, not taking even a teeny weeny step into the path of sinners... that we may live a pure, righteous live, to live with a clear conscience.
Psalm 9 - NIV
Psalm 9:1818 But the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted ever perish.
Psalm 10 - NIV
Psalm 10:17
17 You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,
~~~
Afflicted: people who are grievously affected especially by diseases; people who are suffering
Needy: Being in need; impoverished; Wanting or needing affection, attention, or reassurance
Some people are suffering from diseases, while others are feeling lonely. There are people who are in need, who are jobless and even penniless. Others are suffering emotionally, mentally (like being bullied or bottling feelings up). Some are suffering from these mentioned for a long period of time or their entire life, while others have it every now and then (like they met with a situation and are suffering inside).
But whatever it is, God hears them all. No matter how lonely anyone is, how needy, and they feel that nobody knows them nor cares about them, that they do not exist... it is a LIE!!! For it is said in Psalm 9:18 that the needy will not always be forgotten. Why??? For the Lord did not forget them at all. Joshua 1:5 5 I will never leave you nor forsake you.
He was always and is always there for you, in your times of need. He has never left your side even though you feel as if you are the only person on earth and no one understand you. Yet he is there, wanting to comfort you in your times of need if you would only let him. He wants to give you all the riches in the world. Even for those cases where people live in proverty all their life, you ask "Then hasn't God forgotten them?" I say "NO!" God was looking out for them. And when they pass away and go to heaven, I'm sure God will reward them handsomely and shower them with His love personally.
What about the Afflicted? When we are sick, and caught a virus, we probably are also considered Afflicted. The bible says that the hope of the Afflicted will never perish, for if you cling onto Him, he will give you hope. For as King David says in Psalm 10, that the Lord hears the desires of the Afflicted. So cry out to Him in your prayers and he will listen to you and encourage you for He is our Healer, our Jehovah-Repheka.
So whenever you need help, need healing and you feel that you are suffering... seek the Lord and He will surely hear.

Psalm 8 - NIV
Psalm 8:4-5
4 what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? 5 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.
~~~
Mindful: bearing in mind; attentive; heedful; aware
God, the high and mighty Sovereign One, who created everything in the universe, a very busy God, someone of very high status... looks down at man. He is there, attentive/heedful towards us, cares and loves us so much.
What is man? Some lowly beings that keeps disappointing God times again and again, breaking His heart. Yet He cares and loves us so much, even though we are nothing but dust which he breathed in life.
He loves us so much that he lifts us to a status just below the angels. Crowning us as princes and princesses, granting us special priveledges, honor, glory ....
That is how GREAT the love of our God for this ungrateful race of humans is. Learn to appreciate God. Love Him back and stop sinning against Him. We are His Priveledged Ones!!!
Psalm 7 - NIV
Psalm 7:16
16 The trouble he causes recoils on himself; his violence comes down on his own head.~~~
I'm not saying that everyone loves creating trouble, though some do. But times again we create trouble, unconsciously and without meaning to. Sometimes out of anger, sometimes out of rebellion. Whether you deny or not, i'm quite sure that somewhere during your lifetime, you did create trouble, whether small or big, whether you admit it or not.
But is it worth creating trouble, to get others angry, to create unhappiness so that you may get glee out of it?! When you create trouble for others, if you think back, you'll realised that you'll usually end up getting yourself in trouble too. Even if you manage to escape it, you'll still get it back when judgment Day comes. For I believe and know that judgment Day will come and we will all be judged and questioned for our actions. We will be held responsible for what we did.
I agree that many times we are not prudent, we do not think before we act. Sigh... I also fall heavily into this category. Out of anger, just to make that person angry (coz he made me angry and I want revenge...), out of rebellion (dont feel like obeying...), I thus try to create trouble for others that I may get "joy" (more like glee though). But usually I dont really end up happy either.
Maybe u disagree with me and think that this passage is nonsense. But this verse is very true in the real world. When gangsters go about fighting, bullying and getting others into trouble, they face lots of troubles too. When they bully/fight someone from another gang, they soon find themselves into another fight...
Violence is not the way to solve things. Take war for example, did it solve things? Were people happy? Did they gain what they want (those who started war)? They end up with more violence. Things could be talked out... except for the issue of conquering... but we should try to maintain good relationships with others and not go round looking for trouble but stay in peace, and make friends instead of enemies.
Refuge =)
Psalm 5:11
11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
~~~
Refuge: A place providing protection/shelter; A source of help, relief or comfort in times of trouble
When we take refuge in God, we will be so filled with joy. God is like this protection, this shelter which would protect you in times of danger. He will shield you from the wind and storm. He loves you and wants to comfort you and carry your burdens for you.
So, just take refuge in Him, trust Him, release everything to Him, let Him be your protection! And you will be filled with such a wonderful and bubbling joy. I know, I've experienced it. Especially when I am in church, I just let go everything to God. I put aside the week's problems and troubles and just focus on God. There is such a joy and freedom, an indescribable peace. You feel so happy, so carefree, better than being high on drugs.
So why wait??? Let the Lord be your protection. Take refuge in Him and experience His joy!!!

Anger \_/
Psalm 4:4
4 In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.
~~~
Many a times, when we get angry, we often sin. Anger can lead to hurtful words, abuse, violence, rebellion, vulgarities, unhappy relationships, bitterness, unhappiness even to people around you, foul mood for the rest of the day, angry thoughts, revenge, murder, crimes, etc.
Amazing how something as small and simple as anger can lead to much big and harmful effects. Didn't really thought that anger has such over-whelming power, right?! It does and therefore we shouldn't harbour anger and let it stay in your heart. As it is also said in Ephesians 4:26-27
"26"In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27and do not give the devil a foothold."
When we allow anger to enter our hearts, we are giving the devil a foothold. Many times, we can't control anger, but anger controls us. Ask yourself: "Are you usually in control of your anger? Or is anger controlling you and leading you to do wrong things?"
I'm not saying it is wrong to be angry. As a mere human being all of us is sure to be angry at times. I also dont think that anger itself is a sin and that God will judge us when we are angry, but rather He will look at how we deal with anger and whether we allow it to control us. Would we give God our anger that He may help us quench it or would we submit to it and to its master, the devil???
So when you are on your bed, meaning at the end of the day, look back and think. What was the cause of my anger? Is it really someone else's fault or my own? Most of the times, u can prevent anger. Anger is like our hands. It takes two hands to clap. You can allow yourself to be angry or not, although the latter is usually very difficult but not impossible. And as you think, be silent. Don't keep trying to defend yourself. What is the point? What do you gain? Nothing, except probably you still get to keep your pride. But is pride that important that u'll continue to live your life in bitterness until you decide to forget your anger?
It is sad to see or hear how anger is stored in a person's heart, because that person isn't willing to let go and therefore his/her future goes down the drain becoz all he/she could think of is that ever-growing anger in his/her heart. Dont let anger be your master, but let God be your master and consume your anger with His love.
Psalm 1 - NIV
Psalm1:1-31 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
